Re: Their goal
Same as over the wall goals from edge of box FK with no angle though. Very rare. Prob the reason under the wall is as rare is because teams don't usually jump 3ft in the air with their backs turning.

Re: Their goal
just had a google for under the wall free kicks and the Alumni appear to be Messi, Ronaldo, Pirlo and Ronaldhino. Dwight Gayle also done one and that is listed on the 101 greatest goals website.

So on the odd occasions this has happened it's been a top top player that has scored it or recognised in a 101 best goals list.

Couldn't find any mention of poor defending

"unlikely scenario and improbability"

Where as the ball going under the wall (never before) is likely and probable??

Jesus the shit you post up 13

Re: Their goal
Just about to say the same thing, sold.

In PE at school, for a bit of light hearted fun, (fun for fucking who mind). We used to have to run around in a big circle and our PE Teacher from the middle of the circle would launch a fucking basket ball at us.

You would jump, flinch, the lot. It's just reactive.

I'm still chuckling at the thought of Collins lying down with his hands behind his back just behind the wall.

Ha ha!!

Re: Their goal
Our old Sunday GK (The mountaineer that used to go up Everest) always told us not to Jump... always wanted a clear sight line... as long as we stood still and did not turn your back (in which you was fined a fiver) then it was job done... well unless he let one through his hands that was

What a load of old shit. Fucking hell man, listen to yourself!

No he didn't but no one knew for sure what he was going to do, even if a shot over was probably difficult to do, it wasn't impossible either

Re: Their goal
Maybe we should do away with walls fall stop? They're obviously a massive problem for goalkeepers.

Re: Their goal
FC, yes you do "win some and lise some" however given the unlikely scenario of it going over the wall from that distance and improbability if it coming down quickly enough to be on target, most walls don't jump balls out as ours did which is why mostly they don't jump. Percentages.
He didn't go over the wall did he.

Re: Their goal
Marston Hammer ~ thought of that, or even having a second wall of 2 that don't jump behind the first wall but then you're taking 2 players out of position rather than 1

Always had FINES for that in our Sunday team... no excuse

Re: Their goal
I said it earlier in the thread but I'd like to reiterate, I was a keeper in my younger, fitter stage of life.

I hated when a wall jumped from ANY distance. If you jump, I have a split second less to react as I see the ball later. That can make all the difference to me making a save or not. I like a wall to stand there and block the ball if it's hit at it. Nothing else. For me, there is no point having one if it's not going to do that.

I'll handle anything over or around it and if I can't, it's probably been a pretty special effort like that Reid one.....

But that's personal preference. I would hope that each keeper has their own preference and the group practice it in training sessions.

Marston... the taller ones obviously?? Or maybe get like Grid Iron and have special teams of lay downers

Re: Their goal
And you know that these coaches told them to jump 3ft in the air whilst breaking from the wall and turning their backs. Idiot!

If you actually read peoples posts properly, objectively and accepted that others may also be right or have a point occasionaly then you would have noticed the two relevant points I made more than once.

Instinct causes players to jump, flinch and turn away no matter what they are told. Also in the heat of the moment mistakes are made as players are human. Not a big deal really unless you enjoy arguing and trying to win every argument.

You'd be better off lining 2 players up along the goal line with the keeper just in front
